The airport is, by land area, the largest in the world. That statistic leads people to expect a building on the scale of the estate. It is not. The terminal is modest and walking it takes minutes.
What people get wrong here is the destination. Dammam, Dhahran and Al Khobar are three different cities at three different distances, and a pickup time set for one does not work for another.

Published figures for this airport do not agree with themselves. Distances quoted from DMM run to about 35.6 kilometres for Dammam, 46.8 for Dhahran, 57.9 for Al Khobar and 93.4 for Jubail. The drive times quoted alongside them, twenty to twenty-five minutes, do not fit those distances.
So we give the time as a range and plan on the longer end: twenty to thirty minutes into central Dammam, twenty-five to thirty-five to Dhahran, twenty-five to forty to Al Khobar, and about an hour to Jubail.
For departures we work back from check-in with the road included. If the pickup is from Jubail we say so early, because an hour each way is a different conversation from twenty minutes.
